Living our Dream
Today I am going back to the first day of this year, as it seems that on that day our life has really changed, or maybe it is just us....oh well, it doesn't really matter! We started our life here after travelling the world, experiencing many different cultures and places. Now, with all that experience we are slowly settling in a place which we have enjoyed for many years as a beautiful, peaceful and happy place for our summer holidays and many other breaks. On that first day of the year, we walked our favourite walk from our house, up the mountain and along the rim to the village, quiet, with beautiful views over the valley. Just like we did on the first day after we became the proud owners of Val di Nibbio, as it is officially called.
Strenuous enough to get you warmed up, it is January after all! A good way to walk off some 'oliebollen', a traditional Dutch New Years' Eve pastry, still baked every year in many Dutch families.
We contemplated on our new way of life, excited, at the same time a little timid, as to what life is going to bring us. Maybe that is what being surrounded by nature, even when the human hand is visible, does to us. And we walked on ......to wish some of our good friends in Marradi a Happy New Year.
Meno male che nostro amico Bruno ci ha portati a casa con la machina. Sopratutto dopo il tramonto faceva freddo ;-). Now that we will become Italian residents, I will show off some of my Italian, even if not perfect!
