On a Darker Day......

Even a Contessa sometimes has an off day. There was one of them last week.........waking up and thinking that staying in bed with a cup of hot tea and a good book would be a nice way to pass the day, let the day go by. I bless myself for the experience of moving around to a new country every few years....I know this feeling.....the initial bliss, then life seems to take on its own rhythm..... Peeling off the little layers of what I think I could or should, nothing else is left than let some of that sadness relieve itself by shedding a few tears, thoughts wandering off to where we left just a while ago. Setting up a new home in no time, making new friends and packing up again after too short a time. It happens and it is fine. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed it while it lasted. Just for a moment missing the sunshine, the warmth, the friends....

The best remedy on a day like this? Putting on my hiking boots and climb the beautiful and comforting mountains around us, even later in the afternoon, take a different path and feel what it brings......a cleared mind, happy with what is and a little peek into spring among the chestnut groves still in winter mood.

The Stinking Hellebore is sticking up its head hopefully while we quietly return on our path. The blue hour announces the end of the day when the birds settle on their branches for the night and the sky is turning dark.
